Bihar Board of Open Schooling and Examination (BBOSE), as an autonomous Organization of Education Department, Govt. of Bihar in Feb. 2011 is yet another significant milestone, on the road of rapid socio-economic development of the State in the last few years. BBOSE is a registered Govt. Society under Societies Act and listed under COBSE. It is an Open & Distance Learning Institution, set up along the lines of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India.

Bihar Board of Open Schooling & Examination (BBOSE) is fast emerging as a powerful instrument of policy Intervention for the State Govt, not only, helping in Universalization School Education, but also ensuring access, equity & quality in it, along with mainstreaming of marginalized communities and thereby "Reaching the Unreached" it develops it's own content and books, imparts education, corresponding to all levels of the formal school system

BBOSE certificates have equivalence with the Certificates of other Formal School Examination Boards like C.B.S.E./I.C.S.E. and other Secondary Boards of the Country. Therefore in effect, it is an amalgamation of the State Council of Educational Research and Training and Bihar School Examination Board, in the field of Open & Distance Learning, at the school level.

BBOSE has been affiliated to the CENTRAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION(COBSE)

BBOSE conducting the following list of School Examinations :

• High School Examination. (10 standards)
• Intermediate Examination. (12thstandard)

ADMISSION:

• Only current year admission will be done(calendar and academic year).
